Type: Tsuba (sword guard)
Mass: 128.4 g
This iron tsuba is of mokkō-gata form, with four softly lobed sides creating a balanced clover-like silhouette. The surface exhibits a dark brown to black patina with granular texture, showing extensive age and use. The iron has a matte, dry appearance, with scattered shallow pitting and softened edges consistent with long-term handling and exposure rather than active corrosion. Shakudo plugs fill both hitsu-ana. Along the rim, minor losses and compressions are visible at several points, particularly near one lower lobe, where the iron shows a shallow chip or delamination; this appears stable and does not threaten the overall integrity of the plate.
Remains of subtle curling lines decorate the surface in an elegant display.
