This refined iron maru-gata tsuba presents a serene composition of a Rabbit sitting among grasses, head cocked up in an expression of alertness.
The iron surface shows expert hammer forging and has been left with a soft, stippled texture, lending subtle depth to the composition. The carving of the rabbit, while small, is expressive, showing confident chisel work that captures its alert stance. The piece retains a rich, even chocolate-brown patina, with a few minor patches of oxidation near the lower right relief figure, consistent with natural aging. The rim is thick and smooth, suggesting durability for practical use while maintaining aesthetic refinement.
