The koshirae presents a dignified martial composition in dark tones. The fuchi-kashira are shakudo nanako with high-relief dragons in gilt highlights, the carving deep and fluid. The menuki are gilt copper shishi (lion dogs) with expressive faces, slightly softened from handling. The tsuka is wrapped in brown leather ito over blackened samegawa with medium nodes, executed in tsumami-maki style. The tsuba is a round iron sukashi type with openwork showing a uniform patina and light rust on the rim. The habaki is a two piece copper example with traces of gilt, showing cosmetic wear. The saya is finished in black ishime (stone-texture) lacquer, with a copper koiguchi and horn kojiri. The lacquer surface exhibits scattered losses and small dents from age, as shown in photographs, revealing the wood beneath near the kojiri.
